Statement of Faith

Online Bible

1. THE WORD OF GOD.  We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct. (II Timothy 3: 16-17;  II Peter 1:20-21)

2. THE GODHEAD. We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons; that they are divinely equal, yet executing distinct, but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence, and redemption.  (Matthew 28:19;  I Peter 1:2)

3. GOD THE FATHER. We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love.  We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer, and that he saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.  (Matthew 6:9; Ephesians 3:14-15; John 4:23-24)

4. JESUS CHRIST. We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. (Luke 1:35)  We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, and teachings. (John 1:1-14)  We believe that He is both true God and true man. (John 14 :6,7)  We believe in his substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, (I Corinthians 15: 3,4) ascension into heaven, (Acts 1:9-11) perpetual intercession for His people (Romans 8:34) and personal, visible return to earth. ( Acts 1:11, I Thessalonians 4:13-18)

5. THE HOLY SPIRIT. We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgment and regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ.  We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, and that He is an abiding helper, teacher, and guide. (John 16:7-11; Ephesians 1:13-14; Romans 8:26,27)

6. MAN. We believe that man was created in the image of God and that man became sinners by nature and by choice, thereby incurring not only physical death, but also spiritual death, which is separation from God, and is therefore condemned to eternal punishment.        (Genesis 1:27, 2:17, 3:6; Romans 5:12, 3:23; 5:18-19)

7. SALVATION. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins for our salvation according the scriptures as the substitutionary sacrifice.  All who repent of their sins and believe in His death, burial and resurrection are justified on the grounds of His shed blood and they are born again, or regenerated, thereby becoming children of God, freed from condemnation, and given eternal life with God.  (Romans 4:24,25;  I Corinthians 15:3;  I John 1:7; Acts 13:39; II Corinthians 5:21; I Peter 2:24; John 1:12; 3:5-7; 16; Romans 8:4; 10:9-10; Galatians 3:26)

8. THE CHURCH. We believe in the universal church, a living spiritual body, of which Christ is the Head and all regenerated persons are members.  We believe in the local church, consisting of a group of believers in Jesus Christ, associated for worship, ministry and fellowship.  We believe that God has laid upon the members of the local church the primary task of giving the gospel of Jesus Christ to those in their community, nation and world.  (Ephesians 1:22-23; Acts 2:42-47)

9. CHRISTIAN CONDUCT. We believe that a Christian should live for the glory of God exercising love for the well-being of his fellow man; that his conduct should be blameless before the world; that he should be a faithful steward of his possessions; and that he should seek to realize for himself and others the full stature of maturity in Christ.  (Colossians 3:1-17)

10. THE ORDINANCES. There are two ordinances that are an integral part of the activity of the church; baptism and the Lord’s Supper.  Baptism, by immersion, is seen in the New Testament as an outward demonstration of the believer’s identification with the death, burial and resurrection of Christ.  We believe that the Lord’s Supper was instituted by Christ for commemoration of His death, should not be entered into lightly, and is open to all true believers.   (I Corinthians 11:23-29; Matthew 28:19; Acts 8:35-38)

11. THE LAST THINGS. We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His kingdom.  We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, eternal happiness of the righteous with God, and the endless suffering of the wicked. (John 14:1-3; Daniel 7:14; John 5:9; Matthew 25:31-36; Revelation 20:1-15)

12. SATAN. We believe in the personality of Satan.  He is opposed to everything that is of God, but ultimately will be overthrown by God.  (John 8:44;  10:10;  Matthew 25:41;  Revelation 20:1-3,7-10)
